Are you passionate about leading people and do you want to help us shape our market and client strategy? We are looking for a strong re/insurance professional to lead the daily management across the P&C Business Management value chain in the SID region which includes South East Asia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.


In this role you will assume a direct line responsibility for the claims team and act as the dotted line manager for other teams, such as technical accounting, In-force Management, and Reserving in various locations. We hope to welcome to our team a strong coach & mentor who will develop the teams further and who will add value to our P&C Business Management Asia Leadership Team. You will contribute relevantly in terms of strategy, leadership, and functional content including claims management, as well as with more general, market and business related insights.


  • Client Engagement & Claims Management:
    • Understand client needs and deliver appropriate value proposition in alignment with client segmentation, using full range of Swiss Re knowledge and tools.
    • Implement our client engagement plans and promote thought leadership to enhance the brand visibility of SR and Business management function.
    • Build relationships at senior manager level: reinsurance buyers, client C-suite, regulators, loss adjusters, law firms. Speaking engagements in conferences, market events, associations, etc.
    • The role requires claims expertise and experience, knowledge of industry positions and market structure / intelligence to establish claims leadership in the market.
    • Steer and own our strategy on large claims, challenge and suggest new directions and options to progress the resolution strategy.
    • Applying portfolio management approach, oversight of the SID portfolio, identifying trends and new risks, and influencing management on future strategic direction.
    • Knowledge sharing within own unit and XFT, active involvement in Expert Networks and updates to the Claims community.

  • Stakeholder Management & Strategic planning.

    • The position will be reporting into the Head of P&C Business Management Asia and be part of the reginal Leadership Team, dealing with various stakeholders across the Reinsurance Asia and ensuring communication between key stakeholders on all relevant Business Management topics. Stakeholders include Client Markets, Underwriting, Legal, Contract & Wordings and Finance.
    • Being a member of the Leadership team, represent BM in Asia level and Global Level Executive Team meetings and present on topics to further the execution of BM topics
    • Make sure Business Management plans are fully embedded in XFT strategies and push for execution
    • Communication of all legal and market developments to stakeholders and Business Management leadership team.
    • Driving transformational change on key projects and initiatives.
  • Talent Management:
    • Managing a diverse team spread across 5 locations and functions involving claims, transaction management, Client accounting and Operations
    • Recruiting, developing, nurturing our talent base to create a healthy pipeline.
    • Support the operations team in their learning and growth, create an inclusive culture at work that fosters greater collaboration amongst BU and Ops teams

  • Governance & Operational:
    • Regulatory engagement on Business Management related topics and follow ups on audits/inspections. Also work with Regulators on shaping up policy/regulatory framework on emerging areas of risks that touch upon BM’s function including automation, machine learning etc.
    • Regular transparent updates (financial and legal) on risks and initiatives, cases and trends.
    • Ensure on time reporting both to internal management and Regulators on agreed metrics/topics
    • Develop new /Work on initiatives with Operations teams that help in improving internal process efficiency and result in improving Ease of doing business with clients

Requirements:

  • Law degree or strong legal understanding
  • Good (re)insurance knowledge (typically 10-15 years of experience), ideally with experience in claims, accounting or underwriting functions. Strong knowledge of insurance/reinsurance policy terms and conditions.
  • Strategic mind-set.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Financial and Reserving processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written:
  • Agility in understanding the key topics and issues for each of the Business Management functions without being an expert in all.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and coaching skills.

Location: Singapore (preferred), but other SID locations will be considered
